The scan network function in your cyber app scans your network and attempts to identify devices connected to your home network.
After each scan, the device list is updated as well as any security tasks for those devices.
Discovering and Managing your devices
Open your cyber app and tap menu, then network devices.
Devices get classified into 6 categories when a valid scan is done on your home network(All, Mobile, Router, Streamer, TV and Unidentified devices.)
Device categories
Tap menu, then network devices to see how which devices were discovered by your cyber app.
Mobile devices - These are mobile phones, tablets, portable gaming devices etc.
Router - Router or routers if you have more than one.
Streamer - These are devices such as smart speakers, TV boxes or similar devices
TV - Smart TVs or similar devices
Unidentified devices - These are devices which were discovered by the app, but could not be identified. Some manufacturers don’t allow the complete discovery of their devices as a security measure, but you can edit the name/type of device easily by tapping on it and entering the correct information.
Attempting to identify unidentified devices.
You may notice a few or a lot of unidentified devices after you scan. This can be a normal occurrence as the app attempts to discover which devices you have connected. There are cases where manufacturers won't allow their discovery, but try these tips to ensure as many as possible are identified.
1-Turn devices on - Devices need to be powered on to be discovered by the app, so ensure to power them on before you scan.
2 - Connected to your home WiFi - Devices need to be connected to your home WiFi and operating correctly to be identified.
3 - Re-scan your network - After you've checked to make sure the devices are turned on and connected to the internet, re-scan your home WiFi. You can scan your network as many times as you wish and we encourage you to do it at least once a week.
Following these steps should properly identify your devices but it's perfectly fine if you have some that won't identify. Repeat the process and take note of any which continue to be unidentified. There are some devices which cannot be identified by the manufacturer's limitations so don't be concerned if you cannot identify some properly.
Troubleshooting and Errors
If you experience any errors or notice data misplaced, you should first re-scan your network and see if the problem gets corrected. First, ensure all your devices are turned on and connected to the internet
Tap menu, then tap rescan to scan your network.
